Day Eight

Helping local businesses get more out of AI.

I'm Rich, an AI consultant based in Bristol. I build AI systems for small businesses and sole traders across the South West.

AI is the biggest shift since the internet, and for a small team it counts for even more. Most of the businesses I sit down with are using a tenth of what's already possible, usually because nobody has ever shown them properly.

So that's what I do. Start with a free call and I'll show you what's worth doing in yours.

Free, and the write-up is yours to keep whether we work together or not.

What you're using it forWhat it can already do

How it works

Three steps, and you'll know if it's worth doing.

01

The call

30 minutes, a cup of tea

Thirty minutes, and it's mostly me asking questions. What gets typed out twice, what sits waiting until Friday, and which jobs only you can do.

No prep needed at your end. Come as you are and talk me through a normal week.

02

The write-up

Yours to keep

A few days later you get a document, and it covers two things. First, the repeat jobs in your business that could be handed to AI, and what each one costs you in hours and pounds a month. Plenty aren't worth doing anything about, and I'll say so.

Second, your AI team: the roles you'd eventually pay a salary for, and which of them you could bring in right now instead.

03

The first build

One job, up and running

If you like the look of the list, we pick one off it and I build it. Usually a couple of hours of my work, priced and agreed before I start. It runs inside your business, on the tools you already pay for.

After that we'll both know whether it's worth doing more.

Sound familiar?

The jobs that never get done.

AI can already do more than you think.

Quotes and paperwork after hours

Writing up estimates by hand at 9pm. Describe the job out loud instead and get a tidy version back in seconds.

The follow-ups that never happen

The review request, the repeat booking, the unpaid invoice. The jobs that grow the business, always last on the list.

Insights you're paying an agency for

Your sales figures, your ad spend, your customer patterns. AI can pull those apart and tell you what's working, in plain English, whenever you ask.

This is what that looks like in practice — the data you already have, feeding straight into a plain-English read on your business.

About Day Eight

Built in Bristol. Working with businesses.

I'm Rich. I've spent the last few years inside char.gy, a tech company that sells EV charge points, watching capable people use AI at about 10% of what it can do. Most of the businesses I meet outside aren't using it at all, usually because everyone selling it talks in jargon and pitches a fix before they've understood how the place runs.

So I start with a free call and a free write-up. You get the full picture of what's possible in your business, in plain English, before any money changes hands.

I'm local, so if you'd rather talk it through in person, we can grab a coffee somewhere in Bristol. If you want to ask me something, ask. I'd rather be useful than sell you anything.

Your AI team

Add capacity, not headcount.

Most of these are simpler to build than people expect. Usually it's a properly set up Claude project or custom GPT with your documents, your tone and your process inside it. The skill is knowing what to put in and what to leave out.

Executive assistant

Triages your inbox, drafts replies that sound like you, preps your day and chases the things that slip.

Head of finance

Reads your historic numbers and tells you what they mean. Where margin leaks, which months bite, what's quietly growing. Works alongside your accountant.

Head of marketing

Looks at what you've already posted, works out what landed, and builds a plan from real results. Drafts the content too.

Media buyer

Reads your ad spend the way a specialist would. Spots the campaigns burning money and the changes that move the numbers, then tells you exactly what to adjust. You keep control of the spend.

Legal advisor

Reads contracts before you sign them, flags the clauses worth a closer look and drafts the standard letters. A first pass, not a replacement for your solicitor.

Customer service

Answers the questions you get asked 40 times a month, handles enquiries out of hours, drafts replies to reviews.

There's a lot of noise about what AI could be. In practice it's a small number of things, running quietly, every day.

What clients say

"Rich helped me revamp my website, designed my brand logo and business cards, and we're working on outreach together now. All the things I'd normally be paying an agency to do."

How we work together

Every job starts with a call.

You'll know what I'm building, why, and what it's worth before anything is agreed.

Phase 1

The audit

Free

A 30 minute call, then your workflows written up and costed. A list of what's worth doing, in order, and the AI roles you could bring into the business. Yours to keep either way.

Book your free call →

Phase 2

Projects

From £495, agreed in writing

Most small builds run to a few hundred pounds. No day rates, no meter running. The integration, assistant or pipeline your business needs, built, connected to your existing tools and handed over working.

Phase 3

Ongoing support

From £395/month, cancel whenever

I watch your systems, fix what slips and add what's newly possible each month. AI moves quickly and things break.

Common questions.

Ask me anything. I'd rather be useful than sell you anything.

Is the audit really free?+

Yes. The call and the write-up cost you nothing but half an hour. If you don't want to work together after that, you keep the document anyway.

What does the first build cost?+

Projects start from £495. You'll get a fixed price before I start — no day rates, no meter running.

How long does it take?+

The call is 30 minutes, the write-up lands a few days later, and a first build is usually done within a week or two once we agree what to build.

Will it work with the tools I already use?+

That's the point. Everything runs inside the tools you already pay for — no new software to learn, no separate login for you to manage.

What if I want to do more afterwards?+

We pick the next thing off the list, priced and agreed the same way as the first. Ongoing support is there if you want it later, but nothing is automatic — you choose each time.

Does this work if it's just me?+

Some of the best fits are one-person businesses — you're the one typing everything out twice, so you feel the payoff fastest.

Is my data secure?+

It stays inside accounts you control, on tools you already trust. I don't take copies of your data or store it on my own systems.

Do I need a big AI agency instead?+

Probably not, if you're a small business or sole trader. Most AI consultancies in Bristol are built for scale-ups and tech companies, with fixed fees from several thousand pounds. Day Eight is built for businesses of one to twenty people — the audit is free, and projects start from £495.

Book a free 30 minute call.

Tell me a bit about your business and what's on your mind. I'll write up what's worth doing with AI in yours — free, yours to keep either way.

I'll reply myself, usually same day. No automated sequences.
